Making Christmas cards with the Overcomers at the Sunday Breakfast Mission.
The goal of Asian Arts Initiative’s Social Practice Lab is to allow for experimentation in a process that combines artistic excellence and innovation with building relationships, encouraging neighborhood development, and effecting positive change within the community.

Chinese New Year's cake Nian Gao is a homonym for "higher year" bringing success, happiness, prosperity in the coming year.
We had a series of writing workshops led by artist Barbara Mayfield.
The men created Easter cards and mailed them to their loved ones. Easter is literally translated as "Resurrection Day" in Chinese.
We had a series of photography workshops.
The men photographed each other and the Chinatown North neighborhood.
I began editing the dozens of stories and creating pop-up layers to acccompany them.
A QR code on the side of the boxes links to Anula Shetty and Mike Kuetemeyer's video collaboration with the Overcomers.
The men's photographs were merged with the layers.
